Claire Lomas' Miracle Marathon
Claire Lomas collided with a tree at Osberton Horse Trials in May 2007 leaving her with fractures to her neck, back and ribs. She suffered a punctured lung, pneumonia, had to have a tracheotomy to help her breathe and was in intensive care for 10 days.
The fracture in her back caused damage to Claire's spinal cord resulting in her being transferred to the Northern General Hospital's Spinal Injuries Unit. Claire left Sheffield after 8 weeks - the shortest time anyone has ever spent in that hospital with her type of injury. Claire is still paralysed but determined to get better.
But this was just the beginning...

Raising money for the ‘Get Claire Walking Campaign’ and Spinal Research
In 2011 Claire approached us asking for sponsorship for ‘The Riders Revealed Calendar 2012’. After hearing Claire’s plans, we were only too happy to help.
The cheeky calendar features some of our best riders (including Nupafeed’s own Piggy French and Claire Robertson) looking a little less comfortable as they reveal all!
The Next Step: The London Marathon
The Riders Revealed Calendar was Claire’s brainchild, and it has enabled her to raise enough money to buy a new robotic suit. This suit will be brilliant for Claire's rehab, and it will be amazing to be her usual height again. It has numerous of health benefits such as improved bone density, circulation and digestion.
Claire now has her suit and has started training to walk the London Marathon for Spinal Research. Yes, having been paralysed from her chest down she plans to WALK the London Marathon!
This is a cause close to the heart of anyone who rides, and Claire’s efforts are truly inspirational. Please help us support Claire and raise some real money for Spinal Research!

Claire Completes the London Marathon 2012!
Claire completed the London Marathon on the 18th May, just 16 days after she started and has raised over £200,00 to date (14th June).
Congratulations Claire, and good luck for your next goal.... cycling from London to Paris!
